In August of 2003, I took some saved up vacation time and went with my family, including my parents, my brother, his girlfriend, and my girlfriend to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. We spent the first night in City of Sin, 3 nights at the Grand Canyon, then a final night back in Vegas.
In Vegas, we stayed at the Las Vegas Hilton, home of the Star Trek Experience. It was quite a strange scene, as we were there during part of a Trek convention. There were all kinds of geeks in freeky Trekie getup wandering around, including women in green makup. ;) We didn't get a chance to go on the Trek Experience but it seems to draw a lot of people to the Hilton.

At the Canyon we lodged with Xanterra at Yavapai Lodge West. Xanterra runs the lodging and other accommodations at various US national parks. Let me say their rooms are incredibly expensive and don't offer very much. And most importantly, they are booked up way in advance. If you stay in Yavapai, get into Yavapai East, as West isn't even air conditioned. Book early!
