I run Debian GNU/Linux on a couple of Toshiba laptops which suites them nicely. However, getting them up and running is not always the easiest, especially with respect to sound and X11 configuration.

I don't have any particular like or dislike for Toshiba or their products; I haven't gone out of my way to use only Toshiba laptops. It just happened by chance that I have a few to use.
